International Business Events, organisers of Cityscape 2005 have unveiled plans for a landscape feature to form the core of the exhibition, to take place at the Business Design Centre, London on the 20 & 21 September 2005.
Gold Medal and best of show winner at RHS Chelsea and Tatton, landscape architect David Fountain will head up the project which will be entitled The Urban Jungle and will demonstrate innovative ways in which urban spaces can be transformed into areas of beauty.
David Fountain commented:
“Due to climate change and the increased availability of materials and plants, we are now able to use a wider spectrum of products to create more exotic and exciting streetscapes.”
The Urban Jungle landscape feature will demonstrate inspirational designs for parks, open spaces, squares, riverbanks and pedestrian environments and will feature the very best examples now available on the market.
Cityscape 2005 is an exhibition of products and services that serve the public realm and the vision of sustainability. It will be attended by architects, landscape architects, local authorities, planners, developers, construction and regeneration companies. Alongside the exhibition, there will be a multi-streamed Conference programme debating the latest issues in policy, planning, design and construction.

Lord Rogers attends Cityscape to launch new GLA Initiative
Last year Citiscape was held at the old Truman Brewery, Richard Rogers, Ken Livingstone’s Chief Advisor on Architecture and Urbanism, found Cityscape the ideal occasion on which to address a specially invited audience of delegates, exhibitors and VIPs. Referring to the urban rooftops clearly visible from the Old Truman Brewery’s Atlantis Gallery, he described the Mayor of London’s new initiative to promote access to roof space as part of London’s Urban renaissance. Living Roofs will be supported by the GLA, and is a key theme in the Mayor’s policies towards sustainable design and construction and energy strategies.
