FraLaFabrik, founded in 1996- as a house for ART – CULTURE – MEETING and COMMERCE – is presenting itself in a fully renovated building at nkfurter Allee 53, Berlin. Renovation took place in cooperation with the owner of the premises along the guidelines of our project and thus provides the best conditions for creative and artistic work.

The objectives of the project LA FABRIK to install a long term and financially stable, artistically contemporary house for art, culture, communication and business.

An advisory board will constantly assure the cultural progress of the house.
The current situation
For eight years LaFabrik has filled the old industrial brick building with cultural and artistic projects and events.
The artist and architekt Rainer Duevell found the empty space in 1995. He started to collaborate with other artists (Karsten Feucht, Jenny Brockmann) to create a place for meeting, art, and creativity.
The renovated LaFabrik offers possibilities for development (good conditions for creative work) and new tasks and challenges.
The collaboration with economic specialists should lead to the most efficient use of the potential of LaFabrik.
The concept
1. – The different parts of the project and LaFabrik as a whole have been developed out of the specific “genius loci”. The different names for the floors and their content grew out of their specific use over the last eight years.
The main purpose of the house in general is authentic, direct and live communication.
2. – LaFabrik offers space for long term usage (studios, workshops, gallery, offices) and temporary usage (seminars, dance and theatre, nusic events).
There will be different rentig-fees for the project spaces which take the financial situation of the participants into consideration.
3. – It is very important for the project that there is an interaction between the artists (fine arts, theatre, architecture) and the visitors.
The creative potential derives from the Berlin-Friedrichshain art-network as well as regional, national and international networks.
Important for the project are social, political, therapeutic and ecological aspects and themes.
4. – The essence of LaFabrik is to encourage interaction (for artists as well as visitors) and the discovering of creative processes.
LaFabrik offers space for artists to define their profile. The participants should be accompanied to be financially stable and independent.
5. – The project creates new kinds of acting together abolishing the borders between young and old, crazy and normal, poor and rich.
The project has to function in a financially, intellectually and spiritually autonomous way.
