Hi everyone
The CoronaVirus (CoViD-19) pandemic is a serious event and has implications to all in the UK, both public and businesses. Now that the disease is listed as a Communicable Disease, and in the light of what appears to be a dithering response from the UK Government, here is our revised Protocol for dealing with this crisis in our business.
It is clear that CoViD-19 is now freely circulating in this country. You can get it from someone who is infected coughing directly at you, but it seems that the mass infection route is from virus on surfaces being transmitted to your mouth, nose and eyes. Washing your hands is useful, but remember this virus lives for a much longer time on surfaces than the common cold, so if you think of every surface as potentially contaminated, then think of the virus sheet coating your handbag, your clothes, your shoes, your paper coffee cup, your phone, etc. Most of us will get exposed to the virus, some of us will then get infected, and the vast majority (99%) will survive. People at risk are generally 60 and older and have pre-existing disease - mainly lung conditions, but heart and diabetes as well.
So, in line with advice from most European governments, I believe we need to limit exposure to people and surfaces which are contaminated. This is the basis of v2 of our Protocol below. So I suggest stay away from infected people. Stay away from mass events (both indoors and outdoors). Stay away from mass transport.
The bottom line is that this is a serious pandemic, but only a relatively small number of people will suffer serious consequences and it should be over within 2-3 months.
Generally...
1 - I will be the Co-ordinating Officer (CO) for this Communicable Disease. If I get ill, Ele will become the CO
2 - Our WhatsApp channel will be used for all messaging during this crisis
3 - If we are together anywhere, try to stay 1.5m away from each other, DO NOT cough or sneeze without covering with a tissue or your sleeve, and DO NOT touch!
4 - Changes to this Protocol will be uploaded tat this link and alerted on our WhatsApp channel
For 67G Office...
1 - Subject to the other provisions below, if you can get to the office entirely by walking a short distance, or by car, you can still come to the office but you are also encouraged to work remotely. If not, you MUST work remotely. I will not be coming to the office regularly since I am in the at-risk group
2 - Visitors and delivery people are NOT allowed into the office, but you can accept parcels at the front door. If by any chance a visitor does enter the office, please take their name, address, email address and phone number and pass on to the CO so this can be used by the Epidemiological Tracing Team if required. GDPR rules have been overridden in this circumstance and these records will be destroyed when this crisis is over
3 - If you come into contact with someone who has the disease, or with a person who has, or you have, travelled from a region where CoViD-19 is endemic, (a) contact the CO and (b) STAY AWAY from the office. Do NOT come back to the office until (a) 14 days have elapsed and (b) you are authorised by the CO
4 - If you develop the core symptoms of CoViD-19 - fever, dry cough and shortness of breath - (a) contact the CO, (b) STAY AWAY from the office, and (c) get tested. Do NOT come back to the office until (a) 14 days have elapsed and (b) you are authorised by the CO
5 - As an additional measure, if you develop the symptoms of the common cold - principally a runny nose and sneezing - (a) contact the CO and (b) STAY AWAY from the office. Do NOT come back to the office until (a) 7 days have elapsed and (b) you are authorised by the CO
6 - We will continue to clean the office twice weekly and with special emphasis on shared surfaces. Liquid soap and disposable paper towels will continue to be provided. We have a contingency plan to continue cleaning should our cleaner Cathy get ill (see below)
7 - In the hopefully unlikely event that the office becomes contaminated with an actively infected CoViD-19 sufferer, it will CLOSE for 7 days for deep cleaning and for existing virus contamination to die - so please make sure you don't leave valuable or personal items you might need in the office. If the office is closed for decontamination, you will NOT be allowed access until the 7 day period has passed
For our sites...
1 - All sites can continue to be operable but this will be reviewed from time to time. The Site Managers on each site (see below) will decide whether they want to keep their site open, and if so, the CO will decide whether this is authorised AND whether weekly Site Visits can be conducted by the office team (see below). If not, the site will be closed temporarily and site workers deployed elsewhere (see below)
2 - Visitors are NOT allowed onto site, although you can accept deliveries at the site entrance. If by any chance a visitor does enter the site, please take their name, address, email address and phone number and pass on to the CO so this can be used by the Epidemiological Tracing Team if required. GDPR rules have been overridden in this circumstance and these records will be destroyed when this crisis is over
3 - If you come into contact with someone who has the disease, or with a person who has, or you have, travelled from a region where CoViD-19 is endemic, (a) contact the CO and (b) STAY AWAY from the site. Do NOT come back to the site until (a) 14 days have elapsed and (b) you are authorised by the CO
4 - If you develop the core symptoms of CoViD-19 - fever, dry cough and shortness of breath - (a) contact the CO, (b) STAY AWAY from the site, and (c) get tested. Do NOT come back to the site until (a) 14 days have elapsed and (b) you are authorised by the CO
5 - As an additional measure, if you develop the symptoms of the common cold - principally a runny nose and sneezing - (a) contact the CO and (b) STAY AWAY from the site. Do NOT come back to the site until (a) 7 days have elapsed and (b) you are authorised by the CO
6 - If by virtue of staying away, you experience financial difficulties, please let Pierre know and we can see if we can temporarily help
