Higgins Homes Scoop Gold Medal In Prestigious New Homes Garden Awards

Higgins Homes has been presented with the Gold medal for the Best Roof Garden Award at the prestigious New Homes Garden Awards, in association with the Daily Express and in partnership with NHBC, Showhouse Magazine and the New Homes Marketing Board. Denmark Wharf, a waterside residential development in Limehouse, E14, took the award for it’s innovative, functional, attractive and easily maintained roof top garden in a spectacular location.
The award presentation took place at the Park Lane Hotel, and was hosted by Bobby Davro. Guests included Theresa May MP and Joe Swift of BBC Gardeners World. The awards were highly competitive with other high profile submissions from national developers.

With Stephen Davy Peter Smith Architects providing the garden framework and Mark Cooper Associates designing the garden, the roof terrace was an intelligent approach to utilise Denmark Wharf’s stunning location. By incorporating a roof top terrace, the scheme has optimised the external elements and provided spectacular 360-degree panoramic views towards Canary Wharf. Undoubtedly one of Europe’s most spectacular engineering masterpieces, the Canary Wharf skyline towers over the surrounding London Docklands providing a breathtaking outlook. This means that every resident is able to appreciate a view reminiscent of New York’s Manhattan skyline.

The garden provides all its various residents with a versatile outside space, suitable for day or night, winter or summer, and which can offer a peaceful meditative atmosphere or the ambiance for a lively party. The materials used – timber, gravel and paving – hark back to Limehouse’s industrial past and the robust, aromatic, sculptural planting stimulates all the senses.

21st century urban lifestyles are focused on low-maintenance style and the design of the Denmark Wharf roof garden provides this in abundance and combines to offer a minimalist and understated design that demonstrates tremendous style in it’s simplicity.

Jeremy Marcus, Sales Director of Higgins Homes comments: “We’re delighted to have received this highly prestigious award”
